Research Associate, Marie Pott, presented to the Directors and Cane Farmers of the two major cane farmer associations, the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association and the Progressive Cane Progressive Association, on the vectors that transmit Leishmaniasis, exposure risks, symptoms, and personal protection.
This presentation was requested by the HECOPAB team, as cases of suspected Leishmaniasis have increased among Cane Farmers in Northern Belize. After feedback from the Associations, health fairs, and presentations would be scheduled for can farming communities to increase awareness of Leishmaniasis and other vector-borne diseases.
