Ovitrap Impacts

The Ministry of Health and Wellness Vector Control Program reached out to BVEC for assistance in developing a mosquito surveillance program to aid in the dengue case management within the Corozal District. BVEC along with the Vector Control Unit have identified two communities where mosquito-ovipositional traps were placed to attract and collect mosquito eggs. This exercise will assist in developing egg density maps that aid in the proper identification of "mosquito hot spots" for targeted vector control. Continued ovipositional exercise over a period of time allows for the tracking of seasonal changes in mosquito density patterns.
