The Belize Vector and Ecology Center assisted the Ministry of Health and Wellness on a two-day training session for the 3rd FRONTLINE Cohort of the Field Epidemiology Training Program as part of a partnership between the MoHW and the United States Centers for Disease Control and SE-COMISCA SICA. This training aimed to build capacity among frontline workers in field epidemiology and outbreak response.

Day 1 of the training focused on medically important mosquito vector biology, mosquito identification, habitat identification, and mosquito behavior for both the Dengue and Malaria vectors.

On day 2 of the training, the FEPT Cohort conducted fever case surveillance, and BVEC assisted in property surveillance for mosquito breeding sites, larval collections for identification, and BG-Sentinel Trap deployment for adult mosquito collection within the Guinea Grass Community.
