University of Notre Dame Visits BVEC

Author: Arlo Cansino

Dr. Benedicte Fustec joined the BVEC team for a two-week period to provide training on new water processing procedures and sample collections. These new procedures build efficiencies in processing the samples for genetic sequencing for possible pathogens in the environment. The team was introduced to animal feces collections and new CO2 Traps for tick collections.

While at BVEC, Undergraduate Student Brooke Rodriguez joined Dr. Benedicte for field collections and to carry out Biomeme testing on the water samples collected in Belize to compare the results with REDI-NET's Next Generation Sequencing Platform.
