Born and raised in Orange Walk Town, Orange Walk District, Belize, Uziel Romero is the youngest of the two boys in a single parent household. Uziel attended La Inmaculada R.C. School from 2007 until the completion of his satisfactory certificate in 2015. He continued his high school studies at Muffles College with the two latter years dedicated to the science program. He graduated with honors in June of 2019 and the following September he began attending  Corozal Junior College. In June of 2021, he completed his science studies associate degree with a concentration focused in Biology and Chemistry

In October of 2021, Uziel received an opportunity of a lifetime to work in the field of scientific research, the field of study that piqued his curiosity. Overtime, he has picked the brains of the brilliant scientists who continue to conduct research at the facility and have over the years produced impactful results for the country of Belize even before his conception.

From being able to collect samples first hand to laboratory extraction and analysis, Uziel has been able to experience the unique scientific process from start to finish. All of which are first time experiences for him. Items that have been read in textbooks are encountered in his day to day which brings to reality what is being read as a life experience. This exposure builds a foundation of ever expanding knowledge that fuels his passion in the field of science and nature. The station has not only introduced the many details that undergo through a mosquito life cycle but has also shown the many varieties in which the research expands towards ecological and human healthcare. Viruses, diseases and parasites can be seen as microscopic insignificance but  evolution has a key role when introducing new opponents in the environment.

Uziel’s motivation is to continue working diligently  to empower through his fascination in the many wonders the outdoors has to offer. Despite his precaution to the organisms lurking out of sight, he is willing to face the adventures ahead.His coworkers always smile at his mind being blown or chuckle from his fears that are brought up in interesting conversations.  He aims to achieve his best toward growing his level of study and career. The curiosity behind vectors and vector-borne disease at Belize Vector and Ecology Center continues growing his knowledge behind these small organisms and attempts to combat dangers toward one’s health.
